Local woman on fundraising mission

Taking the reins of Mount Prospect based United Relief Foundation’s UR a V.I.P. Club, Buffalo Grove resident Peggy Slove is on a mission to raise the funds for additional Club movie nights.

On Saturday, another capacity crowd at Maryville Academy’s Stein Center Auditorium in Des Plaines, enjoyed popcorn, pop, pizza, pastries and the wide screen showing of  "War of the World." This prompted Slove schedule more movie nights.

“The UR a V.I.P. Club was formed to provide positive social and life experiences for children ages 10 to 16 suffering from major health related and developmentally delayed issues and it is rewarding to be able to do just that,”,commented Slove. “An added bonus is to see Foundation volunteers get as much enjoyment out of the movie nights as do the children and additional movie nights will make sure we do not have to turn away any children.”

There is no admittance fee or cost for Child, Parent or Guardian to participate in UR a V.I.P. Movie Night with popcorn, pop, pizza and pastries. Water, natural fruit juices and sugar/caffeine free soft drinks are also available. Movie Night attendees get to vote on the movie to watch and participate in games with prizes afterwards. Attendance capacity is 70 (children) and is on first reserve basis.

Participation in United Relief Foundation UR a V.I.P. Club is open to individuals and non-profit organizations who attend to the needs of children suffering from major health related and developmentally delayed issues. Next Movie Night is August 11.

Movie Nights dates and program details can be found at www.uravip.org.

Starting in her community of Buffalo Grove, Slove, who also serves as a Director on United Relief Foundation’s Board, has organized volunteers to ask motorists for donations on August 2-4 at the corners of Arlington Heights and Lake-Cook Roads.

United Relief Foundation, an Illinois chartered and registered humanitarian aid organization, recently expanded its Humanitarian Initiatives, with UR a V.I.P. Club (www.uravip.org) and Stock the Selves (www.stocktheshelves.org) to address local area needs.
